In short
UZYTAK Shot — the Windows app and the browser extension — makes screenshots and screen videos on your own computer. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no telemetry. Your pictures, videos and recognised text stay on your PC. UZYTAK does not collect, receive, share or sell data about you.
Windows app: your pictures and videos
Screenshots and screen videos are saved in your folder on your PC — by default Pictures\UZYTAK Shot, or the folder you choose in Settings. They are never uploaded; there is no cloud. The history shows what is in that folder. You delete a picture or a video yourself, and nobody else can see it.
Windows app: text from pictures
“Text from screen” and “Read text in pictures” use the text recognition built into Windows. It runs on your PC without an internet connection. The recognised words are kept in the app's data on your PC so that you can search your history, and they go nowhere else.
Windows app: microphone and sound
A screen video records the sound of the computer. The microphone is used only if you switch it on for the recording. Sound and video go into the MP4 file on your PC and nowhere else.
Windows app: settings and app data
Your language, keys, folder, the history index and other settings are stored in the app's data folder on your PC. Closing the window keeps the app in the tray so that the keys keep working; you can stop it from there. Uninstalling the app removes its data folder; the pictures in your own folder stay until you delete them.
Windows app: Microsoft Store and purchases
The app is installed and updated through the Microsoft Store. Pro is a one-time add-on bought in the Microsoft Store, which handles the payment and the licence under Microsoft's own privacy policy. UZYTAK receives no payment details.
Windows app: links
The “More from UZYTAK” blocks and links to our website open in your browser only when you click them. Nothing is sent from the app when they are shown.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect your pictures, videos, recognised text, page addresses, device identifiers, location or usage statistics. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers or analytics in the app or in the extension, and we do not pass data to third parties, except the licence key to Lemon Squeezy as described below.
Browser extension: what it does with data
When you click the extension button or press its key, the extension reads the pixels of the current tab and, for a whole-page screenshot, scrolls that tab. The images are kept in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on your computer so that you see your recent captures; they are never uploaded. The address and title of the captured tab are stored with the capture, locally, so that the history shows where it came from and, if you choose, the PDF can show the address and time. Your language and similar settings are kept in the browser's local extension storage. You can delete any capture in the history; uninstalling the extension removes them all.
Browser extension: licence key (Pro only)
If you buy the extension's Pro version and enter your licence key, the extension sends the key and a technical device name (for example “UZYTAK Shot 1.0.0 · Chrome”) to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com), our payment provider and merchant of record, to activate it. About once every 7 days it asks Lemon Squeezy again whether the key is still valid. The reply (valid or not, the activation number and the e-mail address of the purchase) is stored only in your browser. The browser asks for your permission before the extension can contact api.lemonsqueezy.com; without a licence key there is no network connection at all. Lemon Squeezy handles your purchase under its own privacy policy.
Browser extension: permissions
The extension works only on the tab where you click its button and does not need access to all websites. It does not track your browsing and does not read pages you did not ask it to capture.
Chrome Web Store — Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. UZYTAK Shot uses data only to provide its single purpose — capturing, editing and saving screenshots. No data is transferred to third parties except to verify a Pro licence with Lemon Squeezy at your request, no data is used for advertising, and no human reads user data.
Deleting your data
Delete pictures and videos in your folder or in the history; uninstall the Windows app or the extension to remove their data. There is no account to close because we hold no data about you.
Children
UZYTAK Shot does not collect personal data from anyone, including children, and is suitable for all ages.
